To achieve certification each website undergoes a manual technical compliance review against WCAG 2.2 to level AA.

The website underwent both a technical compliance audit and robust end to end testing by users with a wide range of disabilities including blind, low vision, dyslexia, colour blindness, mobility impairments, learning difficulties, Deaf, Asperger and anxiety and panic disorder.

All testing is carried out in line with relevant platform specific guidelines, and where applicable, conforms with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. Testing also conforms to Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

There were no observed issues at Level A or Level AA priority.

Level AAA

  • Tabs would open from interaction without warning beforehand: Changes of context were initiated without the user requesting the changes and without a mechanism to turn off such changes. 3.2.5 Change on Request (Level AAA)

Usability

The following issues are not covered by WCAG 2.2, but may cause difficulty for some users.

  • Structure and Purpose (Usability): Changes to the mark-up may make the structure and purpose of content clearer for screen reader users.
  • Colour contrast (Usability): Some text may be difficult for some users to decipher
  • Buttons (Usability): The functionality of the button may be ambiguous for some users.
  • H eadings (Usability) - The heading structure was illogical, with heading levels being skipped.
  • Skip link (Usability): The skip link did not function as expected.
  • Cookie layer (Usability): The cookie layer did not allow users to accept prior to navigating the page.
